Description
Old triple head elephant, made of solid patinated bronze. Detailed craftsmanship and decorations. Heavy for its size. Approximately 4" tall and 4.25" long. Evident patina and old-age wear, which only adds to its beauty. NOT A SOUVENIR PIECE! This was likely part of a wealthy person's shrine. Age uncertain, but it was purchased in Thailand c. 1970s and was already old then. The elephants represent the three historical kingdoms of Thailand -- Vientiane, Luang Prabang, and Champasak. The folded umbrella is a royal symbol, originating from Mt. Meru in the Buddhist cosmology.
